CONTROL OF VARROA - NZ (3rd Edition)
By Michelle Taylor and Mark Goodwin
This guide covers varroa biology, effects and population growth, how to determine the number of varro in a hive, chemical controls (inculding resistance), non-chemical controls, breeding for varroa tolerance and how to time and integrate varroa controls. It also includes case studies from New Zealand and around the world. It is a very helpful guide for Australia beekeepers as we begin to manage varroa here.
This 3rd edition is based on 21 years of experience in managing varroa throughout New Zealand, and varroa research conducted in New Zealand and overseas. Most significantly, it highlights the importance of adapting managment practises to control varroa as some proprietary products are no longer reliable in all circumstances.
