Starting your beekeeping with a nucleus colony is a great
way to get going but you may be unsure about traveling with live bees in your
car or handling your bees for the first time. We can bring your nucleus colony
to you and show you how to install it into your hive while explaining what we
are seeing and answering your beekeeping questions.
We will go over your hive location and direction, how to use your equipment, handling frames, how to identify the castes (types) of bees, identifying brood and resources, and what you need to do next to care for your bees. The process will take around 1 hour. The session can be extended to include delivery and installation of additional nucs for an extra charge.
This service includes travel for for locations within 30mins (1 hour return) of Watsons Creek. Additional travel to and
from your home/apiary site is charged in 15 minute increments @ $15. This is
calculated using return time travelled between 54 Gills Rd, Watsons Creek and
the apiary site. For a good estimate on travel time to and from the hive,
please use Google Maps.

Please give us a call to discuss nuc availability and to arrange a delivery and
installation time. Nucs come in a temporary corflute box- you will need to have
a permanent hive (any Langstroth style hive including flow hives, traditional
hives or long langs) ready to install into. We can also include delivery of
ordered equipment including your hive, tools and protective clothing.
You aren't on on your own after we help you get set-up either. We can offer on going support through our hive help visits where we can teach you more about how to carry out a full hive inspection or meet a specific goal such as taking honey frames, splitting a hive or packing your hive down for winter. We also have a honey help service where we can bring an extractor to you and help you with your honey harvest. You may also want to join us for a full day beginner beekeeping course.
